Bagger’s Word of the Day – Disingenuous

Posted: 17 November, 2011 in Uncategorized

adjective lacking in frankness, candor, honesty or sincerity; falsely or hypocritically sincere; insincere

For example, it would be disingenuous for one to claim that one is concerned about how taxpayers’ money is being spent by government at the same time one brags about not paying taxes or for one to say that one has two dependents – one’s self and one’s spouse – when, in fact, one’s spouse is the only one with an income and one is actually the dependent, or for one to call oneself an entrepreneur (bonus word! – noun one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise) when one has never organized, managed or assumed the risks of a business or enterprise, unless saucing it up and stirring feces is a business or enterprise.  To be fair, the definition of entrepreneur does not require one to be successful, so perhaps that’s not so disingenuous after all.  It still may be more accurate to refer to such an abject (bonus word! – adjective sunk to or existing in a low state or condition) failure as a contrapreneur (not a bonus word, I just made this one up and may copyright it, I haven’t decided yet).
